Tropical Storm Matthew Update

Tropical Storm Matthew

On the dock during the storm

Well, the storm came and went and there wasn’t much to write about from Corozal.  Matthew stayed South of Corozal area and then dissipated so in Progresso we just got a few quick, heavy showers with a few gusts of wind.  My boyfriend and I ended up playing in the lagoon while most of the storm was going by which means it wasn’t much of a storm for us.  In Corozal they got hit with heavy rain and about 40 mph gusts of wind for a little over a half hour and then it was mild for them as well.  There are still some soggy and muddy roads around – especially close to the ferry over the New River.

For info about how San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) made out during the storm you can visit tacogirl.com or read her post here.

Southern Belize was hit a lot harder and you can see an iWitness report of some of that waves in Placencia, Belize during the Matthew here.

Next on the agenda is a trip to Cayo where we are planning on doing a cave tubing tour and staying around San Ignacio at an organic retreat property.
