Rain continues to further deteriorate our town’s streets and neighborhoods as Corozal gets battered with torrential rains from last night and this morning from a passing Tropical Wave. This morning, residents of Corozal Town and its outskirts could be seen leaving their uninhabitable homes due to major flooding. Personal belongings have been lost and some residents of our community have sought shelters provided by NEMO. Areas so far affected are: Corozal Town Central (most of its outskirts) including, Joseito Layout, Finca Solana, Consejo Village, Baeza Layout, San Andres, Xaibe, Ranchito, San Joaquin, Libertad, Chunox. Here are some of the affected areas this morning. Caution is exercised to those residents living near river banks and low lying areas. Damage to crop will be assessed by the proper authorities. Anyone wanting to assist those victims may contact the Chairman of NEMO. The Corozal Central Neighborhood Watch is engaged in any security matters arising. Contact # is 602-2126 or the Police Department at 402-0022.
