As is typical of Belize most of my plans fell through. Mostly it was due to the weather – there were multiple storm systems passing through while I was there so it was difficult to do much but stay indoors. That is something that you get used to in Belize though – plans are sort of fruitless. I am always just going with the flow of the day for the most part there. So we did not get to go cave tubing and sadly we did not get to stay at the organic retreat on my last night. Hopefully I will make it there next time though since it seems like a magnificent property.
Instead we stopped in at Angie’s in Corozal for pedicures (my first one in Belize) and that was so nice. In Belize, wearing flip flops constantly, my feet take a beating so it was nice to have them pampered a little. At $10 US it’s well worth it! Then my two nights my boyfriend and I just stayed at his place in Progresso Shores relaxing, swimming, talking and watching the rain come through. They are clearing land there now so we would periodically check on that progress as well.
So it was a fairly uneventful trip as far as activities go but I had a wonderful time seeing friends, my mom and my boyfriend. Next time we will get to travel around the country a little more but at least we didn’t have to go through a full blown hurricane! The plane rides home were tiring. Belize to Houston is a piece of cake but Houston to Portland can be a bit grueling. It’s a four hour flight and mine was a late one so I was ready to go to bed.
