March 21st: Fuel Prices Increasing
Despite an announcement by Prime Minister Dean Barrow during the 2011 – 2012 budget presentation that taxes would be waived on a single shipment of fuel, prices at the pump are now close to $12.
March 21st: Proposed Placencia Port
Belize Tourism Board continues to hold consultations about a proposed port in Placencia. A consulting company concluded that the government of Belize should not proceed with cruise tourism in the south.
March 22nd: Belize Coast Guard continues search for Cubans
Three Cubans went missing at sea Sunday morning while transporting a cargo of salt, and the Belize Coast Guard is still searching for them. According to the Coast Guard debris from the ship has been found but nothing else.
